Cabrillo Robotics Club to Compete in SUAS 2026

Quick Take
Cabrillo Robotics Club will compete in the 2026 SUAS Competition

Cabrillo College’s Robotics Club is excited to announce the debut of SkyHawk, our first Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). This project marks a major step forward for the team as we expand into aerial robotics and tackle the challenges of autonomous flight.

The Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) Competition, hosted annually in Maryland by RoboNation, brings together over 50 international teams to design and demonstrate autonomous aerial vehicles. Competition tasks mirror real-world applications and include autonomous navigation, object detection and classification, payload delivery, and mapping.

The SkyHawk represents Cabrillo Robotics’ first step into aerial autonomy, requiring expertise in avionics, flight dynamics, and computer vision. Through this project, students are gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies that power modern UAV systems.

Cabrillo Robotics is eager to take on the challenges of SUAS 2026 and looks forward to representing Cabrillo College on the international stage.
